Introducing the RS Acoustics SUBWOOFER GR8+!!
Our first ever Plug&Play Subwoofer upgrade specifically for the MK8/MK8.5 Golf R/GTI equipped with the Harman Kardon (HK) System only. Just unplug the stock plastic subwoofer, remove the screw post, lay the new subwoofer in place, connect & enjoy!!
At the heart of the GR8+ Subwoofer is the outstanding AudioFrog GS8ND2 bass driver. This 8" woofer features a dual-2ohm voice coil configuration and excellent sensitivity rating to efficiently maximize the performance of the subwoofer using the stock HK amplifier power/wiring. The solid MDF subwoofer enclosure (sealed) construction measures 16"x16x"4" to fit seamlessly under the trunk lid OR tucked up in the trunk while also minimizing loss of space in the boot. (extension harness required).
The GR8+ Subwoofer comes with (4) 3D printed feet with velcro on the bottom to firmly secure it to the carpeting in the trunk.
**Must remove spare tire for under trunk lid**
Add the extension harness to cart if you wish to run it above the trunk lid in the boot with the HK wiring.

Pair this with the ARS24 Air2 amp or any small monoblock amplifier (~200-250watts RMS) for even greater results and outstanding performance from a true Audiophile speaker driver and world-renowned car audio manufacturer.

Sub sounds a lot better when installed in the spare tire well
Installed in MK8 with no amp. Very pleased with results. Much tighter than stock and maybe 15-20% louder in my estimation. I can even feel a little vibration in the steering wheel. Not going to rattle the windows without an amp but gets the low end on par if not a little better than the Fender system from previous model years. I ordered mine without feet and it fits between spare and floor board perfectly when floorboard is put in higher slot (GTI).
Got the gr8+ subwoofer and the hertz center channel installed in my car. So easy to install and makes such a huge difference in sound. I asked them a bunch of questions through insta and they were a huge help, super quick to respond and made me confident in my choice.
