STAGE 2 (HI-FI) - MK8 Golf/GTI (Base Audio System Rear Kit)

The Stage 2 (HI-FI) rear door speaker upgrade kit includes (2) speakers to replace the rear door coaxial speakers in the MK8 Golf/GTI equipped with the Base Audio sound system only. Featuring custom 3D printed brackets to house the coaxial speaker and fit into the OEM locations.

With its robust and intelligent design, this Slatefiber kit greatly improves the quality of in-car listening. The speakers feature exclusive Focal technologies to provide generous sound. With their standard size of 16.5 cm and their careful aesthetic, they combine ease of integration and performance, for the pleasure of listening. Tweeter and loudspeakers benefit from unique Focal technologies for sound reproduction synonymous with clarity and purity. They offer excellent power handling, even after prolonged listening at high volume levels. Their performance and reliability are guaranteed, whether you use your audio system occasionally or intensively.

This kit includes;

• (2) Focal PC165SF (SLATEFIBER) coaxial speakers with foam tape applied
• (2) Door Speaker Brackets
• (10) 3/16 rivets
• (8) Speaker Mounting Screws
• (2) VW Plug&Play speaker harnesses
• (4) 1" pieces of heat shrink tubing

Similar to the Focal ISVW155, these speakers will need to be riveted into place (rivet gun not included), followed by plugging in the harness to the positive/negative terminals of the speaker and then screwed into place using the supplied screws (harness connector pointing upwards - as seen in pictures). By employing this process and a shallower depth bracket - we were able to accommodate the use of true 6.5" speakers into the doors - this is what sets this kit apart from the popular Focal ISVW155 kit which uses a 5.5" speaker and cheap aluminum tweeter.

The Result? - Incredibly rich and detailed sound thanks to the audiophile quality SLATEFIBER cone which provides excellent efficiency & dynamics. It also provides improved bass extension, mid-bass definition, and clarity. Thanks to the lightweight cone & high-efficiency design - these plays very well even with the limited power coming from the stock headunit.

**For Best Results - pair these with a dedicated amplifier like the Focal Impulse 4.320**

Please note: the speaker brackets can be used on either driver or passenger side they are identical. When riveting in the bracket it is a tight space and they will go in on a slight angle - be sure to keep pressure of the rivet and bracket on the door and give it at least 3 squeezes to tighten up against the door and break off. 

Tools Required:

• Pry tools
• Rivet Gun
• Philips screwdriver/drill bit
• 3/16 drill bit (drill out OEM rivets)
• Small needlenose pliers or pick tool to remove A-pillar safety clip
• fine edge Pliers to cut off the remaining rivet head in the doors when removing the stock speaker
• Heat gun or small lighter for heat shrink tubing
• Sound deadening material for doors (optional but recommended)
