It is hard to describe the sound after installing the BASS LVL1 door speakers. I combined these with the Stage 1 Front Speakers, and the sound is monumentally different. After installing these and examining the difference between the B&O speaker mechanics and engineering, I would decidedly never spend the money on a premium OEM system ever again.
RS Acoustics describes the sound difference as "lifting a blanket". This is a disservice to their products, as the sound is far more than that description.
After listening to my tunes with these "entry-level" upgrades, the only way I can describe the sound of the old B&O "premium" speakers is this: it is as if you're trying to remember something from a fading dream.
These upgrades have beautiful, rounded musical curves, previously unheard dynamics, and such a substantial increase in auditory pleasure.
A couple of notes that have nothing to do with the RS-Acoustic products. Do your YouTube research on how to remove the B8/8.5 doors and dash speakers. The trim is well seated and requires some force and finess to remove them. The dash speakers are super tight and can be frustrating. Get the right tools, and it will be far easier. It can be an anxiety-inducing process simply because you think you might break something. However, you won't if you do your research and take your time. With the older cars, the plastic can be brittle, so take your time. Also, get a heavy-duty trim removal kit, not a cheap nylon/plastic kit. You will thank yourself later.
My only issue, which has nothing to do with RS-Acoustics, is that I now cannot hear the whine of the supercharger, nor the radar detector.
Amazing bass from the front 2 doors alone sounds incredible
First off, Philips' customer service was amazing—he responded to my questions immediately and had the speakers delivered in no time! I went with the Bass Level 2 for the front and Bass Level 1 for the rear, and let me just say… WOW! What an impressive improvement. The sound quality is crisp, full, and hits way harder than stock. Couldn’t be happier with the upgrade!
My stock door speakers in my 2014 Audi S5 were seemingly dry rotted or blown out when I bought the car. They rattled really bad with any bass. I bought the Bass LVL 1 speakers from RS Acoustics because I didn't want to mess around with wiring and fabrication, I just wanted to get the job done. These speakers feel like quality and they were truly plug-and-play. I was a little nervous as there were no reviews but I would definitely recommend. Bass is clean and much better. I will likely go with RS Acoustics for the dash speakers as well since the stock B&O system is honestly pretty tinny and too treble-harsh.
